The consumption of vices like weed, alcohol, and tobacco is widespread across various demographics, transcending differences in physical attributes and preferences. However, certain groups exhibit a heightened inclination towards specific vices. Statistics show that men tend to use tobacco products more frequently than women, with 16.7% of men compared to 13.6% of women indulging in such products. Moreover, men are more inclined to use cannabis compared to women. Yet, the question arises: who among LGBTQ individuals and heterosexual individuals consumes more cannabis?

Multiple factors may contribute to these patterns, with experts suggesting a correlation between the higher prevalence of anxiety and other mental health issues among the queer community and their affinity for cannabis. It’s possible that cannabis serves as a coping mechanism for LGBTQ individuals, offering a source of solace. Additionally, LGBTQ individuals might encounter cannabis earlier in life and face less societal stigma, potentially influencing their consumption patterns. Moreover, the delayed parenthood among gay individuals may afford them more time to explore and engage with cannabis.
